['iːstwʊd], Clint, amerikanischer Filmschauspieler, -regisseur und -produzent, * San Francisco (Kalifornien) 31. 5. 1930; 1986-88 Bürgermeister seines Wohnortes Carmel-by-the-Sea (Kalifornien). Wurde bekannt durch Rollen in den Italowestern von S. Leone (»Für eine Handvoll Dollars«, 1964, u. a.), dann mit Filmen von D. Siegel (»Dirty Harry«, 1971; »Flucht von Alcatraz«, 1979, u. a.); Eastwood trat in letzter Zeit in Charakterrollen hervor und ist erfolgreich mit Filmen, die das Westerngenre wieder belebten und zu einer Neuorientierung führten.
